Stamford is an architectural gem, a stone-built town of charm and grandeur. The entrance to the town from the south, past Burghley's 'Bottle Lodges' gateway, is always breathtaking. The first sight of the town is of St Martin's down the hill to The George, a view described by Walter Scott as the finest between London and York.
Within easy reach of The George are Burghley House, Peterborough and the beautiful market towns of Uppingham, Oakham and Oundle. Crammed with unspoilt villages and beautiful rivers (The Welland and The Nene) we are in an area of little known beauty.
